Review: Fleetwood Macked plays classic 'Rumours' album in its entirety

BY MARKOS PAPADATOS

Wantagh - Fleetwood Macked, the Fleetwood Mac tribute band, performed the entire "Rumours" album in its entirety at Mucahy's Pub and Concert Hall on Long Island.

Their set included such classics as "Gypsy," as well as "Say You Love Me" and "Over My Head." They immediately broke into the first side of the Rumours album, starting off with "Second Hand News," and the fan-favorite "Dreams," featuring Hillary Epstein's lilting vocals, where the listener could recall Stevie Nicks.Fleetwood Macked continued with "Never Going Back Again," and they picked up the pace with the optimistic "Don't Stop." They also had a great deal of fun on "Go Your Own Way" and the Christine McVie-penned "Songbird."They also introduce the second side of the Rumours album to the Wantagh audience with such classics as "The Chain," "You Make Loving Fun," "I Don't Want to Know," Christine McVie's "Oh Daddy" and the Stevie Nicks-penned "Gold Dust Woman."Of course, they threw in such heavyweight hits as the timeless Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Rhiannon," as well as "Landslide," which Hillary described as "one of the best songs ever written," and rightfully so.The VerdictOverall, Fleetwood Macked gave yet another solid performance on Long Island, thus proving that they are the ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute band in New York. This concert was living proof that their legacy album Rumours will stand the test of time, similar to Carole King's Tapestry and Michael Jackson's Thriller. Their show garnered two thumbs up.

Hillary Epstein of Fleetwood Macked talk about upcoming Mulcahy's show in
by Markos Papadatos

Wantagh - Long Island songstress Hillary Epstein chatted with me about her upcoming concert at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall on May 19 with Fleetwood Macked. Fleetwood Macked is a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, and on May 19, they will be returning to Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall for yet another classic rock show. "I am very excited," she said, with a sweet laugh. "We love it there. It should be a great night, and we are doing something interesting that night. We took a part of the set, that is well-known from their tour in 2015, and it will be a part of the Fleetwood Mac set-list." Epstein shared that music fans can expect to hear such Fleetwood Mac classics as "Rhiannon" and "Gypsy." That same night, Fleetwood Macked will be sharing the stage with boy band tribute band Larger Than Life. She had nothing but the the kindest words about Mulcahy's, and the venue's staff and management. "The management is so great to the band and they have been so supportive," she said. "Our show keeps growing and evolving. Mulcahy's is a great stage for us." Most impressive about Epstein is that she makes a lot of Nicks' clothing herself (the ones that she wears while performing on stage). That is where her degree in fashion from FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) comes in handy. "I make a lot of the clothing herself. Our show is developing and there will be more costume changes. It's an exciting time for us. We want to keep evolving and give the fans more reason to come and see us," she said. On April 6, Epstein was afforded the privilege to see Stevie Nicks perform live at the new Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale with The Pretenders. "I thought it was incredible. I love the intimacy of the storytelling and the stories behind all of those songs," she said, about the Stevie Nicks concert. "The production of the concert was absolutely incredible." Epstein listed "Silver Springs" and "Landslide" as her two favorite Stevie Nicks songs to perform live. "I've loved the song 'Landslide' since I was a little girl. It was one of my father's favorite songs. Me and Stevie lost our fathers within three weeks from each other," she said, noting the special significance of "Landslide." Review: Fleetwood Macked sensational at Mulcahy's in Wantagh
By Markos Papadatos
Wantagh - Hillary Epstein delivered as Stevie Nicks in Fleetwood Macked at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh on Long Island.
Epstein underwent several outfit changes and went on to perform such smash hits as "Gold Dust Woman" and "Gypsy." The band as a whole shined on "The Chain," "Rhiannon," "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop," where Epstein played tambourine.Another treat was their duet "Leather and Lace," while their version of "Landslide," featuring Epstein's distinct vocals, left many fans in tears. They closed with the spitfire "Edge of Seventeen," with Epstein wearing Nicks' signature white dress. The Mulcahy's crowd was with them every step of the way, and they were able to form a strong connection with their audience and the music.
Aside from Epstein as Stevie Nicks, Sue Rowe portrayed Christine McVie (who was superb on "Over My Head"), Niles Hughes portrayed Mick Fleetwood, Michael Epstein was Lindsey Buckingham and Chris Arrigo played John McVie. Her band members soared on harmony vocals. The VerdictOverall, Fleetwood Macked was superb at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh. Hillary Epstein looked and sounded like Stevie Nicks thanks to her harking and lilting alto voice. They did Fleetwood Mac justice, as they dusted off their classic hits and performed them for their Long Island audience. Fleetwood Macked is worth seeing live whenever they are in town. Their live show garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars. To learn more about Fleetwood Macked and their touring schedule, check out their official homepage.

The husband-and-wife team of Michael and Hillary Epstein of Smithtown emulate former rock ‘n’ roll power couple Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in their Fleetwood Mac tribute, Fleetwood Macked, which comes to The Paramount June 3.

“We are the Lindsey and Stevie that actually stayed together,” says Hillary, 48, of their 20-year marriage and musical partnership. “Stevie Nicks has always been an idol of mine. When I was a little girl, I’d twirl around in front of my mirror to ‘Gypsy.’ It’s a dream to be able to pay tribute to her and have people enjoy it.”

Originally the couple was the nucleus of a ’90s alternative punk band, the Basals. When that died down, Chris Antos of Live Wire, an AC/DC tribute band, made a suggestion.

“Chris said, ‘You guys look like Lindsey and Stevie. Why aren’t you doing a Fleetwood Mac tribute?’ ” says Hillary. “I have a naturally husky voice with a raspy quality. I studied her vocal inflection and pronunciation a lot. I had to take on a West Coast accent and dye my hair blond.”

With Fleetwood Mac reunited and actively touring in recent years, what makes people come see Fleetwood Macked?

“Sometimes when you love a band, you can’t get enough of them,” says Hillary. “We have people who just saw Fleetwood Mac come to our show because they get a kick out of seeing how well we can perform the material.”
